Parents of 8th graders: Please mark your calendars for a very important evening! This Wednesday, Feb. 24th is the 8th Grade Curriculum Fair that is being held at SHS in the Commons. You and your student will have a chance to meet staff and students at SHS, as well as check into the many opportunities that SHS has to offer. The event is from 7-8pm. Many questions that you have regarding the transition to high school will be answered, so please plan on being there.
 
Also, there is an 8th Grade Promotion planning meeting being held on Thursday, Feb. 25th at 7pm in the Mark Twain library. Promotion is scheduled for Friday, June 11th at 6pm. Please come and see how you can make the Promotion Party a success. J

Mark your calendar for the Empty Bowls Soup Dinner:5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 7th at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 303 N. Church St. Tickets are available at the door and at SACA. Call SACA at 503-873-3446 for details. Cost: $5 per person and Children 3 years and younger free.
 
Join community members for a meal of soup and bread while learning about hunger in our community. Handmade bowls by local students will be available. There also will be a silent auction. A power point presentation will start at 6:15 p.m. Silverton High School senior Kat Stoltz is organizing the Empty Bowls Soup Dinner event for SACA for her senior project.
 
Marion Co. Health Dept. and Silverton Together present: “STRENGTHENING FAMILIES”, Wednesday evenings, beginning Feb.17-Mar.31.  The event will be held at the Schlador Street campus on the James St. gym entrance from 6:30-8:30pm.  For information or to register, please contact Silverton Together at 503.873.04050 or email janh@wavecable.com.
 
The Purl District in downtown Silverton is hosting a Teen Knit get together every Thursday from 3:30-4:30pm.  Kids can go and knit for free, or they can pay a fee of $10 for help from a Knitting Teacher. Please call the Purl District if you have any questions.
